The Surpriser: The Life Of Rowland, Lord Hill  Letter (1983) By Gordon L. Teffeteller

Serving under the towering Duke of Wellington, Rowland Hill came to the forefront of the Duke's generals

Lord Hill has often been caricatured as an unctuous country squire, but this work corrects that impression. It details his fighting abilities, pointing out the brilliance with which he managed his troops and developed an esprit de corps among his men, and describes his ruthless, lightning-fast attacks that led to victories in the Peninsular campaign and at Waterloo.

This special set contains an authentic 1812 Autographed letter to his niece at Shrewsbury, referring to her brother & his nephew General Hill in the Peninsular with Wellington, letter dated 16 November 1812, he praises the prowess of his nephew in the Peninsular 'he opposes the machinations of the most execrable tyrant that ever cursed the earth'
