In the closing stages of the Second World War, Air Marshal "Bomber" Harris took the controversial decision to target civilians by laying waste to German cities. With waves of bombers crossing the German border, many towns and cities were razed to the ground. One such city was Dresden. Tens of thousands of people were killed in the attacks that ultimately realised their intentions, that of crushing the German people's morale and bringing the war to an early end. However, the debate still continues; was Air Marshal Harris the murderer of innocent civilians, or simply a man with strong enough ideals to adopt a tactic which would ultimately lead to victory over the German war machine?
