The Dungarees: an account of the recruitment march from Warwick to Brisbane by volunteers for the First World War and the re-enactment 1998 (2000) By Nat McCaughey
The story of The Dungarees- 28 men who marched from Warwick to Brisbane in November, 1915, snowballing to 125 by the time they reached Brisbane. It tells what is know of the service of these men, and focuses on Eric Abraham, a centenarian and the Last Dungaree. Eric was recruited at Boonah during the 1915 March, and was the inspiration for the re-enactment of 1998. How the 1915 March and its 1998 Re-enactment werre conceived and organised, together with the day-to-day problems which confronted the marchers on the 12 day odyssey, gives a very readable insight into the psyche of the Australian men and women of their time.
