Lilliput Fleet (1976) By A. Cecil Hampshire
A.Cecil Hamphire wrote several books on the Royal Navy during World War 2. Although written over 50 years ago they tell a gripping story of a very little known fleet of ships used by the Royal Navy to fight the Axis Forces.
The Royal Navy Patrol Services came into being in 1939: originally trawlers and drifters requisitioned with their crews from the Fishing Fleet, hastily converted into warships to defend harbours and coastal convoys against the Luftwaffe, mines and E-boat attacks.
