Leavenworth Papers # 13: Counterattack on the Naktong 1950 (1985) By William Glenn Robertson

This Leavenworth Paper examines both the theory and practice of U.S. Army counterattack doctrine at the outbreak of the Korean War The case study chosen for examination is the First Battle of the Natkong Bulge, 6-19 August 1950, a part of the defense of the Pusan Perimeter During the two-week period covered by this study, the 24th Infantry Division and its attached units attempted at least sixty-one counterattacks of company size or larger Significant elements of [US Army counterattack doctrine] were not followed by the 24th Infantry Division during the battle. This failure to implement valid doctrinal concepts appears to have delayed the ultimate victory and increased its cost.

Illustrated with photos, diagrams, and maps. Bound-in at the end is 22 maps, of which 18 fold-out.
