Gimlet Comes Home, by W. E. Johns was published in November 1946 by University of London Press. It was the third Gimlet book and the first to deal with his post war adventures.
 
The events in the book take place in Britain just ater the end of the Second World War. Gimlet and his friends have just been demobilised but none of them have yet to settle down to a peacetime job or routine.
 
French publisher Aredit adapted the story for their King comic series in an album entitled Retour de King, published in May 1969.
