Classic Wings Vol.17 #5 (2010)
We have many restorations this issue; three rare Republic P-47D Thunderbolts in Sydney, an F4U-1 Corsair from Lake Michigan, a rocket-powered Messerschmitt Me 163 “Komet” interceptor and an Avian VH-UVR whose wreckage joins another Avian being restored in Brisbane. We also report on the final test flight of the world’s only flyable B-29 Superfortress. Rounding out this issue our mystery aircraft is the D.H. 93 Don, an obscure aircraft plagued by performance inadequacies. Airshows include NZ Warbirds – Ardmore Open Day.
Classic Wings was created in 1994 as the culmination of many years of wanting to see a vintage/warbird magazine that was created for owners, restorers, pilots as well as enthusiasts of these machines, by people who are themselves participants at all levels of these activities.
